Gliophorus psittacinus used to be called Hygrocybe psittacina and is one of the species that has had its name changed by science in recent decades after more precise analyzes of its curious morphology. They are quite small and have striking green and yellowish tones, being known for this reason as "parrot toadstool". They can be edible, but in large quantities they tend to cause gastrointestinal disturbances, in addition to being inadvisable for consumption due to their very mild and uninteresting taste and also to their viscous slime coating. This substance is responsible for its shiny and moist appearance. Common in European and North American forests, they are also present in very diverse places, such as Australia and Japan.
